How to Prolong the Evo 4G Battery Life

The Sprint Htc Evo 4G has many great features that have many smart phone users excited. However, one of the common complaints about this phone is the battery life. If you are a moderate user, you can expect the battery to last about 12 hours. If you need longer usage before recharging, here are a few ways you can prolong the Evo 4G Battery Life.

Turn Offer Services Not In Use

Although you are not using services, it is all the time running in the background. If you are not using them, you can turn them off. If you are in an area that doesn't have 4G, you should turn it off to save power. Same thing applies to Gps, Bluetooth, and WiFi. These services will run and waste power unless you turn them off.

Adjust the Screen Brightness

The 4.3 inchscreen is great for watching videos but the radiance can kill you battery life. You can adjust the radiance of the screen to save your battery. There is an auto adjust setting that will adjust the radiance depending upon the lighting in your area.

Time Out Setting

When your Sprint Htc Evo is not in use, it will shut off the display to save power. You can adjust the setting to a lower timeout interval. Having the timeout setting at 15 seconds will use less power than having at 1 minute.

Turn of all the time On MobileData

This feature saves battery power by only using the 3G and 4G radios when they are needed. The radios will automatically detect if you need 3G or 4G and turn it off when not needed.

The numerous applications and services can shorten the Evo 4G battery life. By managing your services you can enjoy your new smart phone for longer periods before recharging.

How to Save Battery Life on the Htc Evo

Like thousands, I ran out opening weekend and grabbed up a Sprint Htc Evo. The Evo is without a doubt the coolest smartphone I have ever owned. Yet the biggest complaint facing the Evo is battery life. Well the good news is that I have discovered any tricks and tips to enlarge the battery life over 50% and I am here to share them with you.

The estimate one complaint I all the time read about elite machine phones or smartphones is their battery life. The battery issue isn not only relegated to the Htc Evo. I avoided the iPhone and iPods for a few years because of their issues when it came to battery life. Fortunately for you Evo owners, it doesn't all the time have to be that way.

Htc Evo 3d Battery Life Problems

Now if you left your Htc Evo set up the way it is when you open up the box, you will be disappointed with the phone's battery life. If you left your phone on with the 4G network enabled, the battery life of your Evo would not make it straight through the day. I learned that the hard way. So that said, here are a few easy steps you can take to enlarge your Evo's battery life over 50%.

Tip #1 - Download the advanced Task Killer app from the app store. If I was going to rank the must-have apps for the Evo, this would be estimate one. Go to the store icon on your phone, type in "Advanced Task Killer" and download it. It is free. Once you have downloaded it, put it on your home screen. Click it and you will see a list of every app and task that is running on your Evo. The first time I did it, I was stunned and you will be too. Some of these apps on your Evo will turn on automatically with no rhyme or reason. Unless you see the apps running, you would have no idea. These apps are bleeding the battery life of your phone dry! plainly check every app you want to kill and then tap "Kill selected apps." I check them all. I will turn them on if and when I need them. This baby will save you big time on your battery life and it is free.

Tip #2 - Download the Battery Status Pro app from the app store. If I was going to rank the must-have Evo apps, this would be estimate two. This is a breathtaking app and it is 100% free. Once again, go to the store place icon on your phone, type in "Battery Status Pro" and download it. There is a paid and free version. You only need the free version. Put this on your home screen once you download it. Tap it and you will see a unblemished breakdown of the battery life left on your phone. You get down to the second time left on your battery in various modes from Standby Time, Talktime, Internet Use (with or without Wi-Fi), etc. This app will let you know exactly how much time you have for whatever you want to do. This is a great way to allocation your battery life so you do not waste it on something you do not need.

Tip #3 - convert the brightness of your home screen. Out of the box, your Htc Evo is fascinating as a summer day's sun. It looks great but you as a matter of fact do not need all of that brightness, unless you are in a dark place. Tap your Menu button on the lowest of the Evo and go to Settings - Sounds & Display - Brightness. There you can slide your bar all the way to the left which will darken your phone and save you a lot of battery life. You'd be surprised at the variation in your Evo's battery life once you make this easy adjustment.

Tip #4 - Turn off that 4G! Look, I am still not convinced that 4G is the be-all and end-all that Sprint is production it out to be. 4G is nice and you pay for it, but it will suck your battery dry. You do not need it. 3G is just as fast and it will not nearly do the damage to your battery life that 4G will do. I only use the 4G if I have my Evo plugged in somewhere. To turn it off plainly tap your Menu button on the lowest of the phone, go to Settings - Wireless & Networks - 4G. plainly tap the 4G button and watch it disconnect. Your phone will now be related to the network via 3G. While you are in Wireless & Networks, tap the button next to Wi-Fi. This will disconnect your Evo from constantly searching for Wi-Fi networks which will also drain your battery. If you want to join together to a Wi-Fi network, just tap it again to turn it back on.

Tip #5 - Adjust your email settings. Users can adjust the frequency to which the network searches for your emails. If you have your Evo searching for your emails every 5 minutes, those searches every few minutes will help drain your battery. Go to Messages, tap the Menu button at the bottom-More- Settings-Send & Receive-Set download frequency. Here you can adjust the network to check for new mail every 5-60 minutes. Depending upon the inventory and how often you need to see new email, I would advise every 30 minutes. Now you can all the time open your messages in the meantime which will automatically refresh and bring up any new mail. However, this tiny adjustment will help save quite a bit of battery life throughout the day.

Tip #6 - Turn off your collective networks. The Evo offers a ton of great apps for collective networking. Myspace, Facebook, and Twitter all have their own apps. This makes life a lot easier if you are as complicated with the collective networks as I am. However, a default setting on most of these apps will keep them on indefinitely which will give you immediate notifications across your network. This is all well and good but that tiny luxury will kill your battery life. Make sure you have these apps all set not to automatically update. To make sure, tap your advanced Task Killer and kill them if they are running.

Tip #7 - Make sure to turn off your home screen. If you are like me, you like to leave your phone open constantly for new emails, notifications, etc. However, this will kill your battery and is not all the time necessary. If you are busy or won't need the phone immediately, just plainly tap the button on the very top of your phone. This puts your phone into sleep mode. Your phone is still on and you will hear notifications, but you will save hours on your battery life by leaving the Evo in standby mode. Additionally, make sure your home screen times out at some point in case you forget to do this manually. Go to the Menu button on lowest and then Settings - Sound & Display - Screen timeout. Here you have the option to have your home shut down anywhere from 15 seconds to never. For me, 15 seconds is a little too quick. I like to keep mine set to 2 minutes. I would probably save a little more life on the battery by taking it down to a minute, but that is just too quick for me and the way I use my Evo. Whether way you have plentifulness of options here, make sure you use them.

So there you go. I have passed this advice on to any friends who are now eternally grateful for the extra battery life they have on their Evo. Make these easy adjustments and the variation will be like having two extra batteries related to your Evo.

Enjoy your new Evo and remember...turn off that 4G!

How to Condition Your iPhone Battery

One of the most important tips offered by users and experts alike is to regulate the temperature in which the iPhone operates. The lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery of the iPhone functions best in temperatures ranging from 32 to 95 degrees Fahrenheit, or 0 to 35 degrees Celsius. At its extremities, the iPhone can still function between -4 and 113 degrees Fahrenheit (-20 to 45 degrees Celsius) but temperatures beyond these ranges will be detrimental to your iPhone battery. In other words, leaving your iPhone in a freezer or in a hot car is probably not a good idea. Keep it out of direct sunlight as well.

This next tip culled from forums and the like is not so clear-cut. There are some who claim that allowing the iPhone battery to completely discharge more than once a month is not advisable, while others believe that no harm can come of it. What seems to have a consensus is that the iPhone battery must be fully discharged from a full a discharge once a month in order to reset the battery meter.

It is also useful to have an idea of your actual usage as well as your battery life in order that you can more fully understand your options. You can view your usage statistics in the Settings Menu under the General Tab then Usage. You will see Usage, which is the time that the iPhone was in active mode which means you were on a call, watching a video, listening to music, browsing the Internet, and so on. It will also show your Standby time, which is the total amount of time the iPhone has been running from its last full charge, whether in active mode or not. Usage divided by Standby time will give you a percentage of the time you were actively using your iPhone. The higher this percentage, the more often you will need to charge your iPhone, so plan accordingly.

Updating to the latest official version of the software using iTunes may help you with taking care of the iPhone battery, but that's still up for grabs. Some users complain that the update from 3 to 3.1 wreaked havoc on some applications. However, updates and patches are supposed to help improve the performance, so maybe that last one was a bit of a fluke. At any rate, before updating your software, check out the forums to see what the feedback is from those who have already updated their software.

And of course, the old standby of using on the applications you need, turning off push, 3G and lowering the brightness of the display and so on are still part and parcel of keeping your iPhone battery in good health for a longer period. Just because you've heard it before doesn't mean it doesn't work.

Something new, though. Some users have noticed that proximity to a cell tower (thus providing access to a strong signal) extends the battery life. This may be because network searching is brought to a minimum. So try to stay in areas with a good signal. A last and final tip is to use your iPhone regularly, so you massage the kinks out of the system and become familiar with the peculiarities of your particular unit. After all, your phone is a highly personal gadget, and should be treated as such.

With that said, the easiest thing that anyone can do to maximize the full potential of your battery is to minimize those programs. This can be done by either downloading a program that does it for you, or by manually closing each application.

You can start with interactive screen protectors or even wallpapers. One great thing about the Evo 3D is that it has live background wallpapers. Enter the settings menu and remove that feature. A notification feature is always incorporated into the application which notifies the user if there is an update or a problem that needs to be addressed with that program.
